Thank you for the comments. It is indeed a clean frame. It has great propertions and the MaxOR tubing is a joy for the eye. Glitter black met paint and decals - everything is good. Something for people who have seen anything and developed a more mature taste. For connaisseurs so to say.
Referring to my latest post: I currently suffer from a kind of hip problem. Normally bikes with lots of setback are my cup of tea, but guess what works for me now ....exactly, the upright Serotta!
Took it off road today. It is a nervous ride. The fast single tracks here in the dunes are very bumpy and there are a lot sandy spots at the moment. The Serotta, makes me experience them like I am on a wild horse. The 1.9 tyres also don't help much. The Serotta is the most agile bike I ever rode.
In my 1st post I mentioned it is pretty much finished for now. Well, I think some things will be changed soon. 1st is the red Tacx bottle cage. I will swap it for a black Profile. I think a black looks nicer, but moreover the Tacx is pretty crap. It simply doesn't hold my bottle on the bumpy sections. Had more disappointing experiences with Tacx. They are that bad that I almost feel ashamed I am Dutch

There is room left for improvement in the braking department. Nothing wrong with performance, it is actually very good. The looks are a bit nah nah. Think I keep the setup the upcoming time though. What is more likely I will change is the forks. I have several Switchblades laying around and I reasoned it would look killer!
Another thing to get rid off are the wheels. For in case nobody noticed, it are about the crapiest wheels you can think of. They normally come in bikes of 100 euros or so. Can you imagine I wun a BOTM with this
Especially the front hub is a disaster. 5 balls fitted ring on each side, non sealed. I placed 9 balls back, loose. Of course this not a long run solution. Will ride the wheels very hard, trash them ...and I have already a very decent XT/high black rim wheelset waiting.
Oh uh ...and a more period correct seat would be nice. Enough laying around, the next pics will unveil what I decided for

Today $3500+ for frame only, but I guess you mean a 2nd hand one? Today they also don't do steel anymore :cry:
On the old ones: Well, tough to say. Don't see them as much offered, as for example Yo Eddy. Also less made than Eddys I think. Nevertheless, we can be sure price level is not in the Yo league. Recently there went a very nice T-max with Campagnolo Icarus on eBay. $640 its was...
For the T-max frame about 3000 guilders had to be paid in 1992. No idea how much dollars, but it was about as expensive as a FRO or Eddy and more expensive than a Bontrager for example.
On the steel: It is Columbus Nivachrom steel. The tubesets name is Columbus MaxOR. The Max tubing was heavily ovalized, see all tubes in front triangle, but als the chainstays. The OR addition denotes it was intended for Off Road use. It is a very nice tubeset!
What is especially done for Serotta is that the seattube grows substantially oversized towards the bottom bracket, this to add stiffness to the bb area.

On the Yo's steel: For my Yo it is TrueTemper OX3. Triple butted tubing and I am unsure on which specifications were specific for FAT. I have never seen this explicitely stated. The non tapered stays probably? The frame is heat treated. Bucks for example, aren't. The >'94 Yo's tubing was derived from the 10th Anniversary.
Earlier Yo's had quad butted tubing by TrueTemper. Fat City was always a bit vague on origins of their tubing etc.
