Turbo Training - what do you get up to?

ours is in the lounge so its not so bad - the worst bit for me is the fact that we use my GF's bike for it, so how long i last depends on how long i can stand the lady-saddle!

Here are some comments I sent to Chris to get going on the TT, bear in mind I am no sport scientist, but this is just what I found works for me. If you die from this, its your fault!

This is really cool Gump....I'm about to buy one and know nothing about them

No worries :)

Just a quick word - its recommended by some that after riding about 90% max HR for a period of time that you should not repeat the level of intensity for 48hrs... Clearly the above will likely take you into this zone if done right.
Agian, all disclaimers, blah, blah, but just from stuff I read objectively and own experiance for me :)

There may be no basis for any of this to be any good :D

It looks much more scientific than I had realised....would a HR monitor be a real benefit to have? (I guess it would tell me when I'm about to die   )

YES
When I ran marathons, I started to train by a HRM and it worked shaved half a hour of my PB in about 2 months (2.58 if you are interested) Train smarter not harder as they say ! I think there is a deal in Lloyds the chemist and they have some at under £15 !!!

I have never used one, and that was with 7 or so years of racing.

I just went on what felt right, and what my coach told me to do.

A word of advice though if stay off the bike for at least 48hrs if you have a cold/flu/ill etc, and then build yourself back up gradually.

I haven't ridden in over a year so I'd better take it easy then

Slight miss-type there! Just read ti back and it didn't make total sense

Try again

Stay off the bike for at least 48hrs if you have a cold/flu/ill etc, and then build yourself back up gradually to give your body time to recharge itself.
