Turbo Trainer or Rollers

I want to get either a trainer or rollers for winter. What are the the advantages/disadvantages of each?
Is one more noisy? Is one more realistic?

I've never tried either so any advice would be very welcome.

If you're old enough, you will remember the wind up Evel Kinevel (sp!). You roud up a handle, pressed a button and Evel would shoot across the room and smash into the skirting board, just like the real thing. Rollers (until you get used to them) are like a full size version of 'wind up Evel'. Turbos are much easier but rollers give a much more realistic 'feel'.

you're not a real cyclist till you've riden none handed on the rollers!!

get rollers loads more fun. i killed a hoover once while i was on (or rather off) them!

advantage of TT is that when you sprint so hard you don't know which way is up, no matter! Just sit and spin
Above two posts sealed it for me. I made the right choice. Takes up less room too. :)

Here's a thought. I got the best of both worlds and bought a Roller Turbo. I got it many moons ago from the St Ives area of Cambridgeshire. I saw the ad for the thing in Cycling Weekly. Absolutely no idea if they are still available but I have been very pleased with it and it is still going strong.

When I can be arsed to ride regularly or I'm training for something in particular I love to use my rollers. They really do make you a smoother rider, something that no other training aid can achieve.

I should use them more often.
