Turbo Trainer or Rollers

Looks like a turbo trainer then!

Should I go for one of these infinite resistance ones?

About 10 years ago, now, I bought one of those fluid / oil ones from Ribble.

What I would say is get something that can raise the front end so that your bike is level.

And lotsa towels, lotsa and lotsa towels. You do this indoors, especially in winter, and you're gonna be hot. You can buy those bib things, now, that stop your sweat dripping all over your bike.

Argos catalogues pretty good

How much dosh do you have? If I had to replace mine it would be for a Kurt Kinetic and try to get a couple of spinerval DVD's.

Tacx swing mag trainer I have and cannot fault it.
Loads of torque at lower speed which is a bonus as you are not spinning your rear wheel at a million rpm in top gear to get a good workout.

I have a magnetic turbo with adjustable control on the 'bars. Compared with rollers, you get some resistance and therefore a better workout if you are 'training' rather than just having a pedal. However, rollers do help a smooth pedalling action. Even Eddy Merckx used them as part of his training.

To level the bike I use a half brick!. The type with 3 holes down the middle. Just sit your front wheel in the 'groove' made by the half middle hole. Just the right height (for me anyway!).

If you are going to use your mountain bike, the first thing you should buy is th narrowest, slickest rear tyre you can find.
