Trying to identify bike model and manufacturer / Nishiki International?

Retro Newbie
Hey,

I have bought this vintage steel bike some 15 years ago on eBay. So some of the original parts had most likely already been replaced. I already have had a new saddle and new pedals installed.

ChatGPT, quite convincingly I must say, suggested that the bike is a Nishiki International from 1983.

Now, I would bei happy if anyone could confirm (or not).

Any hints are much appreciated! 1000082274.webp

the International was a successor to a model termed Kokusai which was current in the early seventies

Nishiki models were mostly produced by either Kawamura or Kuwahara

manufacturer catalogues are filed on line so you can check your example against them

Nishiki is a house brand for the distributor/importer West Coast Cycle Supply Co. of Los Angeles, California

company founder was Howie Cohen, an immigrant from Iraq

there is a guide here to the serials for manufacturers based in the orient
