Triple Troubles . .

I was thinking about buying one of these:

Can anyone tell me if they are available in 177.5/ 180mm?
What bottom bracket does it use and can I use a 9 speed chain with it?

I know it's incredibly modern for me, but thought it looks rather nice and would let me make my old TVT an all Campag affair once again, now that I actually NEED a triple!!

This Chorus is a cheaper alternative:

Again, any ideas what crank lengths this was available in?

Was the C Record ever made in triple? I don't ever recall seeing such a thing, but noticed this old beauty the other day and made me wonder about C Record being made in a similar version . .

Thanks,

Craig

Not sure about modern sets but the "old super record 144mm PCD was available in 177.5 to special order only I would think "off the shelf" max length would be 175mm

The Campag 10 speed stuff works fine with 9 speed - I've run like that for 15 years now.

I've seen doubles up to 180mm.

I've seen them in all the usual increments of 2.5mm from 170 to 180mm. I have had a 170 and a 175. I would think you'll need to trawl the net for a while to get your hands on one over 175 though.

They take a Record or Chorus 111mm ASYMMETRIC bottom bracket or you can use the Centaur symmetrical with a 1mm spacer on the drive side. Ive just done exactly this with my Concorde Gavina.

It will work fine in a 9 speed setup. I ran my first one with 9 speed for at least a year.

As regards older triples, I haven't seen anything in C-Record. Chorus from the era, yes, but not C-Record.

There are however Nuovo Record triples available, but its bottom bracket murder with them. I think they take 115.5 asymmetric.

NO,the modern 10 speed Record (not C-Record ,NB the name changed in the early 90's) are only available up to 175mm in a triple BUT the Double set is available in 177.5 & 180..

or Centaur at 175 and 124

That's really nice and if my bike was Super Record equipped then I would certainly think about it.

So, modern Record triple and 175mm is as long as it gets then . .

There are converter rings available which fit a double and hold the triple inner. TA used to make them, I think that Stronglight still do. They aren't that easy to find.

IIRC Spa Cycles used to list them.
