Tricked out Stumpjumper for $250 BIN

I'm guessing he didn't really look into postage costs that closely.
I reckon that if you pointed out that a large box (big enough to get my stumpy fsr in) is a flat $53 with USPS PMI to anywhere he might be persuaded. -Tell him you've done all the hard work finding out rates blah blah, all he has to do is GO to the post office.

The USPS do another service, can't remember what it's called now but it's even cheaper... Just Slower.

Worth a shot I say.

I just shipped a bike to the UK and it cost me 190 dollars with USPS. Two separate boxes. The large flat rate box that is 53 dollars is 12x12x5. Not sure where you are getting your numbers but if you could enlighten me I would sure appreciate it.

same here...something tells me these prices are a work of fiction. I've received quotes of $210 for both both boxes combined. I would appreciate some enlightment as well...would love to ship bikes/frames to the U.K. affordably.

Hold up guys, I'm still at work!
Bike box is in the garage roof and I think the shipping docs are stuck on the side.
Will scan it for y'all tonight.
(Like about 8pm ish)

Alright.
Sorry it took so long. Been busy and whatnot.
Anyway, here's the shipping doc I was on about. You wanna be looking in the bottom right corner where it says weight, value and fees.
My mistake for saying it was $53 -It was actually $57, but close enough.

That makes sense

the weight is only 12 pounds. It is just the frame. total value is 65 dollars. Mine was 25 pounds and the total value was 900 dollars.

Re: That makes sense

I was waiting for someone to pick up on that.

True, your contents were worth more and that may have affected it, but the way I see it is seems as it's a "Flat Rate" box, value shouldn't be an issue unless they're charging you for insurance too.

Lets just say for arguments sake that a whole bike is too heavy for one box, EVEN if you broke your 25lb bike down evenly into 2 boxes, (so less value in each box too?) you could in theory post them like I did for $57 each -which is still less than the $210 that GoldenEra paid?

They make flat rate bike boxes now

 seriously man, be happy you received your package, but this is not the norm for a secure shipping transaction for a retro/pricey frame/bike from the US to europe.

I've never made money off of shipping...period
