Tri Spokes/Spin etc

Re:

There’s 2 sets on eBay. £550 and £750. Wow they can’t be worth that surely. They don’t even look that mint.

Are they interchangeable with conventional hub spares?
Depends, some (very few) models use standard freehubs/bearings/cones etc. Most don't.

And just to reiterate, they are horrific to actually ride. The spinergies were probably the best of a bad lot, but still far outclassed by fairly basic 3x32h spoked wheels.

(Have ridden Spinergy, Spin and Spengle years ago, recently tried some biturboRS carbon wheels, which are a lot better. But not cheap, and FAR too expensive to justify how they ride. Still have a late 90s trispoke rear for time trialing, that i never actually do. Might have to sell it!)

That appears to be the general consensus,Im just going to use conventional wheels.I was going strictly for the Hans Rey look.Pity,I remember not long ago people couldnt give these things away when discs came in.

Re:

Maybe I'm just not a skilled enough rider, but I dont think spins ride that badly. Small penalty for the look imho. I wouldn't ride mine hard though, wouldn't want to hurt them.

It's nothing to do with skill or otherwise. It's the cycling equivalent of putting 19" rims and slammed suspension on a corsa then driving down a potholed street.

Rather "crashy".

Definately a different feeling from regular spoked wheels.
The 4 spoke Spinergy wheels were supposed to have cushioning/shock absorbing qualities, can't say I ever noticed that, I'd also describe them as "crashy"

Care to part with said Spinergys?

I already did. Still have the 700c version, I'm keeping those though, despite everyone who sees them telling me they will explode or burst into flames one day, they're still going
