CIF and a nail brush are your friends, depending on tape.I had white bar tape once.
And I do mean once. Never looked white again after the first ride.
I managed to get a couple of hours free today, so set about the brakes. Cleaned up the braking surface and got rid of some of the last course the bike raced on
Hoses were also the wrong way around for me, so switched those and re- bled the brakes.
Rear was awful, goodness knows what fluid came out but pumped it all out with some nicer gear.
Once the air had gone through the hose. There must have been more than there is in between Nadine Dorries ears

Also managed to clean up the chainset, and that very ovalised chainring, will be interesting to see how this feels in use.
Switched the broken Isospeed cover for a plain black one too.
Cleaned up the XTR rear mech carefully. Being electronic I can't do my usual soaking in white spirit so did the best I could, bit of a fiddly job but necessary.
After which I fitted it to the frame along with the chainset, my go to Look pedals and chain.

Bars also now swapped for wider ones with a deeper drop, my favourite WCS ones, and I have a Bontrager stem to put on once I get another junction box for the gears.
So not much to do now, set the bar angle, lever position and tape up. I found some good matching Bontrager tape but will get some other options too.

Saturday afternoon update. New junction box fitted, along with a Bontrager stem I had. May be a tad long but we'll see.
Alos ordered this grommet from Trek, the open hole was not ideal.
I had to obviously take the brake hose off to fit this and re- bleed the brakes , along with a new olive. Worth it though, for tidiness
Insulation tape for the Di2 cable and brake hose, very subtle
I decided to go with the Roval wheel decals, so fitted and lacquered over them.
Nail varnish helping to hide some of the paint damage.
Time to tape the bars up. Bontrager yellow was a reasonably good match but isn't sticky. I had to pinch the end with the brake lever clamp.A small cable tie holding the dividing tape stay in place, although it was sticky.
I had to replace the very sorry looking brake hoods for a new set, feels so much better now!

So here are some photos of the finished bike. Unfortunately I had to use the black Bontrager saddle as it fitted the seatpost clamp better than the green and white one. Had to tweak the gears a bit, I didn't really know what I did to micro adjust the mech but it works so I'm leaving it. As for the cranks, yes they are one of three sets that need to go to a shop for inspection. May actually fit a carbon Sram Force crank in its place with a better sized ring.
Time to have some fun getting used to it now. Happy weekend folks!

That looks fantastic Mike! Dare I say it, even the bar tape. Especially like the headset spacer mounting of the junction box, very neat.
I think the black saddle is actually perfect for it, coloured would be taking it too far.
