it's really interesting to read your comments about the gearing on your bike. as i posted on the puerto pollensa holiday thread, i had a 39 x 26t bottom gear on my dura ace 8 speed set up and it just wasn't nearly low enough to cope with a. the long climbs b. my level of fitness. c. my level of fatness!!
does anyone know if shimano ever made a dura ace triple of that era or indeed any high end triple that's capable of taking larger rings than a 48t big ring? i'm sure that the touring shimano chainsets of that time were 48/38/28t, but i've no idea whether larger rings were even made for those cranks or not.
