Top quality full susser, in Jalalabad, Afghanistan

We should donate a frame and some parts. Build him a proper one. I bet he will be more thrilled and its a nice gesture! Sometimes you have to realize what you got and understand how lucky we are!

Anyone going to Afghanistan anytime soon?!

Cheers!

Good stuff Retrobikers.

It would have been easy to laugh at this bloke and his bike, but the posts which show him respect say a lot about those who frequent this site.

True! That is better than most of us while we are only sharing pics of our bikes on the internet.

I'm in. I can donate a full set of Shimano LX BR-M560 brakes :!:

Hi all

I think from memory he paid about $500 for his bike, and when you consider hi monthly wage was only $300 it sort puts the value into perspective.

Like i said he did offer it to me to ride down the river, beautifull views and believe me i really could have taken him up on the idea. Problem was his bottom bracket was hanging out of it and needed replacing.

Didnt want to make matters worse for him.

Oh, not to mention that was the time when the Taliban started blowing things up again and planting IED's everywhere. So really not a good idea to go out.

I have been thinking about bringing a bike over, as i have for a guy i work with now, he has a 4 year old lad.

Something i am gunna work on i think, could get a little Raleigh back in my hand luggage i reckon.

Well...being in Canada I think I can ship over a Bontrager threadless 1 1/8 stem to a Moderator or someone that is willing to put in some wrench time from the site.

Maybe we should start a Afghanistan Build Thread!
