too new? pro flex 857 expert xt

Hi all,im a returning biker coming back in after many years off the bike, enjoying myself immensely on my 2012 kona blast. It helps living within spitting distance of hamsterly forest mind!
I still loved my retro bikes tho and this old chap found its way to me the other day as a frame and forks.
It came with a pace rc36 plugged in but unfortunately, that was missing parts.shame tho cos they were mint.
Luckily i had a early marzochi bomber "in stock", a rake in the bits box also turned up an xt groupset, and a canny pair of mavics.
The bike rides beautifully, the pivots and shock are in great nick, the only problem im having is my xt rear shifter seems to have broken inside as up shifting is now very tricky.
Oh and obviously the lack of Girvin crosslinks need to be addressed!

Ive never really liked full suss but the proflex really surprised me,much less sea sickness while climbing than i expected, even for a hefty chap.
Id still swap it right now for a well specced steel hardtail tho.

Hmm dont seem to able to ad my pics.

Re:

I upload photos to photobucket.com, then copy the
part and paste it into my post on retrobike.
Other web image hosting sites like Flickr etc work the same way.

An 857 was one of the first retro bikes I got when I found this site, they make a decent xc bike, think mine weighed in at 27lbs.
The Girvin Crosslink forks really make the bike I think, they are especially good at soaking up the small bumps, having said that though, I fitted Pace RC38's and found them to be quite smooth.

Get some pics uploaded
