Tomorrow could well be one of the biggest days of my life.

You'd also be able to run a considerably better motor (perspective here - our 2000 Peugeot 306 1,6 estate cost £8000 3 years ago - same car would have cost less than a grand at that time in the UK AFAIK), and thereby have more access to better MTBing.

But you do have to go a good bit further north than Malmo to get some proper hills.

paying danish tax (working off greenland and the danes own it) of 43% im still earning over 3 1/2 times what i was earning back home

Danish wages without danish prices. What's not to like?

BTW make sure they're not charging you the equivalent of Council tax and church levy....

The disposable income diminishes somewhat when you have to spend it here....

just got some even better news im not having to pay the tax my new boss is covering it :D :D :D :D even better    8)

Well the meeting went well. This was interview 2 of 3. Still some distance to go. I shall hear back at the end of the week/early next week whether they are interested in taking me further.

I may have to have a chat to some of you about the old tax issue. And exactly where I should be negotiating my wage to so that after tax I end up having a payrise over my take home here.

A nice starting point would be confirmation of the tax bands. I saw the discounted Expat tax rate that had me excited until I saw how much you need to be on before you qualify.

I also understand theres a discount for foreigners occupying scientific positions, and am wandering if the role I am looking at could be included.

Probably still getting way ahead of myself, but hey.

If you ever plan to come back to the UK don't forget to keep up your minimum NI contributions! I didn't do this when I moved to Spain for 3 years then moved back to the UK and was working for just under 2 years before I was made redundant. When I went to sign on they noticed that I hadn't had a full 2 previous years contribution and so I was eligible for exactly nothing, never mind that I have been working since the age of 13! This was 2 years ago now and i'm still trying to "import" my Spanish contributions back to the UK so there is no break in my NI. It would have been so much easier if someone had told me the integrated European system is not quite so integrated...

Honestly, I if I were you just pay the minimum even if you don't think you'll come back. It's only £12 a week or so.
