Ti dream or nightmare? selling the wheel but at what price?

Rather than have to split this bike up does anyone know of someone qualified to do a repair on a ti bike?

I know that this is a very specialist area of frame building but I would love to ride this bike as god (gary that is) intended. Indeed if gary wants to pick the frame up on his way back to the states please feel free :D

NIGHTMARE....Couldn't trust hammering some trails somewhere with the thought of it snapping under me
Its a real shame as it's such a lovely looking ride

Since I am a bit unsure as to the value of the various parts on the bike and if my repair aspirations fall flat would anyone be kind enough to give me some prices on the parts if I need to sell

I
Cheers

OHHH, its red!

I'm spent up at the mo unfortunately, and with a baby on the way the Mrs would kill me if I spent too much

Best I could stretch to is a crumpled £10 note, a Pro-Circuit sus hub laced to a 231 rim and a 4 pack of Guinness!!

do a search for gaf user. he bought a broken gt xizange & had it repaired.
although to be honest i'd reserve it for light/ limited use as well.
kinda shame as its a rare frame.
I sold a new m/burn front hub a while back for sub £30

Eegad, these ti repair threads always make me cringe...seems everyone knows a "chap" in a garage who's willing to give it a go. Doesn't anyone ever piece together that is how this frame got to this position in the first place?

Dude, if you are going to repair it, do it right.

At the least;

- the top tube needs to be mechanically cut out,
- the seat stays cut away at the miters
- the seat tube removed below the fracture line
- a new seat tube with a greater wall thickness bored and chamfered to fit in the old seat tube and welded in place
- a new top tube fit
- seat stays re-attached
- the entire frame MUST be argon purged and heat sinks used.

To repair this frame correctly will cost in the range of 800-1000 dollars.

Some times you just have to admit you made a poor decision and move on.

I don't claim to know it all, but with 15 years in this business, I know when a frame is toast.
