Threaded headset query?

I've got a 1inch threaded steerer thats a fraction too long.

What is the considered best option?

1. Chop to correct size.

2. Fit 3mm spacer between top nuts?

Will the spacer affect the lockup of the nuts?

Bikes coming along quite nicely now will post some work in progress pics when the main bits are together.

Put spacers in, cutting it will only restrict the bike you can later fit it on if you want to move it. Spacers will not alter the way the headset works at all, most headsets usually come with at least a 2mm washer between the locknuts.

agreed, one more washer won't look too out of place - and it'd be tricky to cut a tube by that little an amount without the right equipment (said a hacksaw veteran!)

Seeing as it's 1" fork I presume you're running cantilever brakes? In which case you could have one of the washers doubling up as a outer brake cable stop :idea:
