This mtb lark is painful

On sunday evening I was persuded to try a downhill course at cannock chase instead of my usual gary fisher trail route. I now have a snapped collar bone, several large bruises and patches of missing skin and will have to replace my helmet and t-shirt. My bikes fine though! Has anyone else had any decent injuries? :)

Oooh, mate! Ouch!

Get well soon

Yea, I've done the collar/shoulder snapping thing (too high/far on the doubles) and can verify its the most painfull thing in the world

It knocked my confidence sideways, and we're talking 14/15 years ago, so I have only just started jumping about again now. And, only a little bit, nowt serious, only a 1-2' or so!!

Busted collar bone, twisted back 3 years ago resulting from going too fast down a section of Spooky Wood at Glentress I'd only once ridden previously.

Moral is be cautious on stuff thats new to you and ignore others claims that its easy and a piece of cake.

I can now nail that section easily enough on a rigid bike but refrain from getting airborne.

:D :D :D :D

I am a proper mountain biker - even if it is only by the definition of having a crash! Yep - done the collar bone...

there was a legend you're not a proper MTB'er until you've snapped your collar bone so congrats...

I hope not

 me too.

Unlucky mate, on the brightside scars are cool, it'll be a great story and the bikes ok. Though I can't see the brightside being too apparent for a few days yet.

broken wrist, finger & ribs, bruised ribs, chipped scaffoid, concussed, gravel rash pretty much everywhere, rode into a barbed wire fence once.. that hurt (did the same trail every day on the way home, then overnite a new fence had been constructed around a steep blind corner...)

I like to think i'm calming down somewhat as I get older :)

Yup. Collar bone, ribs, countless stitches, concussion on several occasions and lots of bruising. Most of that was in my last ever down hill race in 1996. :D

That little plate of ligament that holds ya collar bone in place at the shoulder (forget the name) has never been the same since. Everything still kind of 'pops out' if I lie wrong in bed. (  ).

Why the hell do I still own a bike??
