Don't like folks who let their pets (especially cats :evil: ) and kids roam free doing WTF they want :evil:

I take it you have never "owned" a cat then While they can be great pets and very affectionate and/or playful, they are not obedient to commands as dogs are and when outside will roam where they please, no matter what you do.

Erm.... Think your all missing a very important point. There is no mention of where the owner or childs parents were during all this.

My parents have a retreiver who wouldnt heart a fly, but doesnt mean I would leave my 3 year old alone with him. Who knows what would happen if she accidently stood on him or pulled his bits (actually he would probably walk of looking sad as only a retreiver can).

All dogs should be treated as dangerous as they all could be, but in the same way that licencing guns doesnt stop people with out licences having them, licencing dogs will have the same effect. All it would do is punish thoes that have done nothing wrong.

Kids often are quite rough with animals and they don't understand you have to be gentle with dogs/cats.
..othen they learn by their mistakes with a growl or a swipe of a paw!

Don't think licencing would stop the problem 100% but worth doingif it makes it harder to own these types of dangerous animal.

Every time i watch one of those 'police camera action' shows they have guys without insurance or full licenses who get caught and banned from driving, cos that's going to stop them-they were doing something illegal so why will a ban stop them.
Same as dog licenses, only the good guys will get them, do you reckon a pit bull owner will go and register an illegal dog? All pointless wastes of money. Treat owners of these dogs in the same way as people with weapons like knifes and gun, same with uninsured/unlicensed drivers-shove 'em in prison. Or as Ricky Gervais suggests, get them to have to wear pink t-shirts that say 'mummy's little bender' to destroy any 'cred' they think a dog will bring
