I know it was mentioned in a thread the other week it was unworkable but look at this litttle girl and see why it needs to be workable it disgusting that a dog has been allowed to do this

Licensing wouldn't help.. it'd just push more people 'underground'.

Pit bull types are illegal and there are more now than there were in '91 when the DDA came into force.

The police cannot sieze every pitbull type since there aren't enough kennel spaces in the country.

agree. The owner will get a slap and banned from owning a dog for a few years :x

It's bad training more than anything, Which is a shame, cause there pretty damn cute pups, licensing won't help. It's not like the police can afford more licenses than we've got anyway.. Shame about the girl though :( dogs that attack should be killed.. owners that train dogs too fight, deserve too have that done too them by there dog..

Erm.... Think your all missing a very important point. There is no mention of where the owner or childs parents were during all this.

My parents have a retreiver who wouldnt heart a fly, but doesnt mean I would leave my 3 year old alone with him. Who knows what would happen if she accidently stood on him or pulled his bits (actually he would probably walk of looking sad as only a retreiver can).

All dogs should be treated as dangerous as they all could be, but in the same way that licencing guns doesnt stop people with out licences having them, licencing dogs will have the same effect. All it would do is punish thoes that have done nothing wrong.

What he said...

Makes no odds where the parents/owner were, they probably wouldn't have been able to act quickly enough to save the littluns face.

The owner should be prosecuted for owning a section 1 dog, she was already a criminal before the kid got bit.
