I'd say the idea is not that all british people know these answers but that those who pass the test have demonstrated some effort to research and understand the country, history and culture that they wish to be a part of. I'd have only 1 question: do you think the world owes you a living? That and a casual perusal of a CV should be enough to know who should be welcomed in. Just a shame we can't ask the same of those born here with a view to one in one out!
Oh, and for what it's worth i'm not british either, i'm scottish. Don't care what my passport says, for now...
