Theiving buggers – new commuter needed

My commute bike got nicked from work on Friday. Locked an a bike shed with two enormous locks and it still went!

It's insured but they don't sell the bike in the UK any more! It was a Specialized Centrum http://www.evanscycles.com/products/specialized/centrum-elite-2008-hybrid-bike-ec001471

It suited my commute perfectly, but I'm going to have to choose another new bike. I guess I'll have about £400 to spend, any ideas what I should get?

I was going to suggest exactly the same thing. What he said, one of them.

Another vote for the Kona Smoke, I have been tempted to buy one for the winter commute. The only thing I would suggest is to take the Kona stickers off, scrotes are attracted to brands so anything with Specialized, Kona, GT etc is a target.

There's loads of good stuff, but I'll have to get something new because the insurance pays out in vouchers

OK, maybe not. Halfords vouchers for accessories & a cheque for the rest (minus the excess). Pretty good really. Would rather have the bike back, but it was good service from the insurance company.
