Prompted by another thread , I thought we could start a dedicated topic on Metalhead and bandwagon info and pictures.

Quite a niche brand and pair of models which people often find themselves struggling for parts or information.

I’ve owned several versions of each with my Bandwagon being purchased new in 1999.

My limited knowledge is that Metalhead was introduced in 96 but actually made it to owners in 97. First versions had no disc facility as the dropouts were shorter. BMX or mtb BB was an option. They came in medium or large. Only the top tube length changed.

Bandwagon followed in 98 with only 1 version apart from size. These were disc & canti , BMX bb normal dropouts

I’ve seen both frames with no bottle cage mounts or sometimes mounts on the downtube.

The disc mounts are rare to mount a hope brake. It uses a dedicated spooky mount and a HBRM165H hope mount paired with a No1 caliper. The Metalhead also needs chain tensioners which again are rare.

Colours tend to be baby blue , satin black or an olive green from factory. I’m sure there are more colours though.

I’ve attached a few pics of mine to get us started.

Mine was purchased from Gil, it was originally Smurf blue but I had it re-done in a wasabi green as a contempory homage to Spooky's olive drab. Spoke with Chris C, confirmed mid to late 1997, sans disk mounts, has a BMX BB (which made fitting the chainguide's backplate a PITA too!)

Don't ask about the frame number as I cannae see it under the paint and I'm not prepared to chip it away!

The following is a prototype Spooky (version 2.0 under Mickey) Bandwagon/Dirt Crab from 2010. No frame number as they were team issue only.
