Unfortunately, one of you knows where the other lives. The other one doesn't.

damn! so true

agree, i always consider the consequences of confrontation when at my place of residence. i just do well to remember their face and hope that opportunity strikes at a fortuitous time in the future. but this depends on the situation and how volatile it is at the time.
sometimes you gotta do whats you gotta do!

When I worked in tool hire, we got friendly with the travellers, they knew they could get repairs done with us, and some of them could borrow our kit, lend it, they look after it, hire it, well, they have bought it and it may not come back, in time they were sort of trusted, they never pinched our kit and even at one point returned some kit that had gone missing years ago, telling us they took great delight in nicking it off another traveller whom they didn't like. Further in time no one touched our individual homes, odd in an area full of burglaries. I learned, treat them right and they reciprocate, they are useful to know.

yeah thats a good point but theyre not the easiest of people to get friendly with as they generally shun outsiders
i think the fact that you were a tool shop probably halped somewhat as you had something they wanted
