The Rumpfy Collection. Current Muses

Great update, what did you find out about your setups in the couple* of years since.

What's your kids next bike?

(*17yrs)
Good question. 22.5" TT and 130-135mm stem for everything. The more complex the build spec, the worse the bike performs. My builds now are pretty boring. Uniform XT or XC Pro with only slight deviations for supporting parts. I will no longer run vintage tires or aluminum bars or most CNC bits in critical areas.

I've got a Bontrager OR potentially in the wings that is just a half size up.
Wow, what a stunning selection.

That 86 Scoboni on page 1 exudes cool. Must have been ahead of its time with the geometry?
I think that, the 92 Steve Potts and the Phoenix above would be my top 3.
The 86 Scoboni was just a bit small for me, but it was a terrific bike. So ahead of it's time. Both the Scoboni and an Ala Carte I had were fantastic riding bikes. I'd do another if the right one came along.
The Potts is obviously beautiful, but a bit of a tank.
Phoenix is my all time favorite riding vintage bike.
A long overdue update Eric. Great to se how you've honed your collection over the years
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing Eric. A selection from a true connoisseur
Thank you!
Outstanding bicycles, a joy to see.
🙏
The killing question : how many (amazing) bikes actually ? 😬
In total? Less than 20 including modern bikes (both mine and my kid as well as our respective pump track/dirt jumpers).
I have a couple unfinished frames...but everything pictured is fully built and ridable.
I've never kept anything that I wasn't willing to ride with one exception.
With such an exquisite range of past bikes and maybe Slingshots/ Raleigh Tomacs being the only constant, that would indeed be quite interesting to know.
Covered a lot of ground over two and a half decades. The Otis bikes, WTB related bikes, the Slingshots, and the Tomac bikes are all constants. Fun to ride for different reasons.
Awesome buddy, thank-you for sharing and updating..... less of a wait next time eh :)
Haha! See ya'll in another 17 years! :p
My favorite aside from the sling shots is the Breeze. I remember seeing one like that in the Kelly Fisher Mountainbikes shop in San Anselmo in the early 80s. I remember it had a buffalo nickel plug in the stem. Interesting that it has Team Tam stickers...
Ex-Steve Banks bike. Stem and bars are "day two" mods courtesy of Steve Potts.
Awesome collection in 2008... completely different awesome collection in 2025...good to see your standards haven't dropped 😄

Love the Breezer....
Thanks! Tried to self regulate. Evolve. Keep only the bikes that work best for my riding style and speak to me the most. Try to make sure they all get used.

Breezer is naturally pretty darn special.

Just beautiful beautifulness everywhere.
