The Roberts Genesis build...advice and thoughts please :)

I would probably choose an XT drivetrain over XTR but would definately go for the Middleburn Wheels/Cranks in silver......I'm looking forward to seeing the final build no matter which spec you go for though :D

Keep it old school :D
Option2 then if not possible Option1
Agree though lots of Brit parts and a Royce BB :D

cchris2lou I know about a pair of those DOGSBOLX. My mates and mine.
Mmmmm that means you seen it before I did
Should be ready any time now.
But won't be built till late in teh summer as we are not back in UK till then :(

How to the old frames cope with the stresses of a rear disk brake added to them btw ?

In my experience they cope with it just fine - just braze a bracing tube in to transfer loading to the chainstay.

Ok, planning has started:

Frame- Roberts Genesis
Fork- Pace RC35 AB
Wheels
Hubs- Middleburn (silver, screw on rear)
Rims- Mavic M231
Spokes- DT
Shifter/levers- M900 STi
Brakes- Ritchey WCS cantis
Bar- Pace RC130/Use/Xlite (black or silver...hmm)
stem- pace/hope (black or silver...hmm)
headset- Shimano XT
BB- Hope/Royce
Cranks- Middleburn RS1's
Rings- Pace
Seatpost- xlite
saddle- flite/brooks
tyres- Smoke/dart magics / wildgrippers/porcs/amber tiogas
QR's- middleburn/hope
Fr mech- XT
Rear mech- XT M737/9
Cable hangers- possibly custom machine some.

Or I may still go the modernising route :P

I'd be tempted to bung it together with whatever I had to give it a whirl. I remember reading a quick review of a CR Genesis which was described as having "questionable" geometry...

One of the early frames designed for suspension forks as I remember so maybe experimental or whatever, but worth a thought.

If you like it go for 3... I know it's herasy but I'm considering disking the Lloyd

I went on friday and they were primed but not painted yet .

Contacted Roberts regarding Decals and possibility of a respray from them, also been onto Bob jackson who seem to be rather good value for rather good work.

(and will also add a disc tab for £60)
