The Retrobike tattoo thread

Tattoos in Japan mean that you are a member of the Yakuza, the Japanese Mafia. Also missing fingertips does...

They (honestly) had serious problems selling Postman Pat programmes in Japan as he only had 3 fingers.

Righto, interesting.. Does seem rather obtuse not to consider the Western tattoo culture; mind you, it's not like our culture over here doesn't have its own bigotry

The hardest part about getting a tattoo is finding a decent parlour.. can anyone recommend somewhere London-ish/SE based?

I know its not in your area, but the guy that does mine lives 100m from my house and has his own studio from home.

Fully health registered, and he is so particular. Takes hours to do 1 tattoo, but in a way, thats a good thing.

I give him an idea of what I want, he does 2 or 3 designs, I approve one and then he does it for me. Spot on chap 8)

Trouble is he's almost too close.....I keep going back for more

I know, he's a top bloke 8)

I wanted an interlinked J and K (mine and my wifes initials) but didn't know the best way, so left it with him for a week. I'm loving what he did with my idea, took him a good couple of hours to finish mind you.

Actually.. tattooing was a way of the poor and common to have colour on their bodys.

Way back when the poor and working class japanese were really oppressed only the rich and powerfull were alowed to wear bright colours.
The commoners used to colour their bodys.
Thats why the full bodysuit is a private and personal thing with only close friends and family seeing them.

Ive spent more than a few hours with some great tattooists!!
