hey... those CDJs are the nuts!!

After years of vinyl mixing.. was sceptical. But they are great and soo easy! Can get pretty creative with them too. Nice.

:)

I had the same experience, the creativity aspect is awesome over vinyl. No going back for me.

well - after years of separates, I planing on building our wall out to contain the 42" telly and hide all the home cinema electronics. I am considering running a 12v Pioneer car system using a 7" Pioneer DVD headunit as a base. That way its easy for the missu to use and all nice and neat.

Nah, your going 180 degrees in the wrong directon fella! Surely it's time for flea-power SET amps and Horns?.. :wink:
And a snakes pit of tangled cables, 'fire bottles' and imminently lethal voltages. :lol:

A small sample of what I have stashed away. I also think I have a problem...

Bottom RH corner of pic, third item from base of stack - Is that an Acoustic Research amp with DIN rear connectors and screw-on wooden side plates? Does it work? Is it for sale?

:lol:

Nearly - its a Cambridge Audio pre-amplifier, I use the power amp for the rear channels.

Audio Innovations 800 series valve power amp;
Rose industries valve pre;
Systemdek turntable;
Originlive modded RB250? arm;
Pioneer stable platter CD transport [PD70???]
Top end DPA DAC;
Neat Petite speakers with the 'ribbon' tweeters;
Heavy sand-filled stands;
Quality thick glass support stand whose maker escapes me;
Sensible interconnects;
Fat copper speaker cables to the bass;
'Military' silver wire to the treble.

All in storage with 800 odd LPs cause I've got too many children and not enough room .....
:roll:

One day she will be mine. Oh yes.

Meanwhile its i tunes on the PC through an £8 2.1 system. 8)

Yeah a tube man!
But don't mention cables around these parts, you might find yourself burnt at the stake. :wink:

Yeeees.... just as much voltage is being sent through 'thick' cables and the thin cables (anything upto 35V and beyond).

Bi-wired? That will present a strange load on the amplifier, gives the 'sound' that magazines bullshited on about in the '90's

Bi-amped? That will give you some extra volume (cant remember the % though) - a genuine so called 'upgrade'!

Speaker cable? unless you're using monster amplification and lengths over 10m - this will do: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=115110

:wink:

:wink:

I must confess to having a very sketchy understanding of electricity [by the time we got to coulombs in physics, my mind had been addled by underage drinking and girls].

So... my speakers have two sets of posts - biwiring?. I thought the principle was separation of signals: i.e. the more you separate, the less interference, noise or whatever. Is this nonsense?

On fat vs. thick: the fatter the wire the less resisistence which feels it ought to be a good thing; but if I'm hearing you right, resistence is only an issue at high voltages or really thin wire?

On silver vs copper: what's the difference? When I wired up my top secret, ex military, cheap ebay silver wire I noticed an instant difference: I became more suave, found I could mix the perferct martini, and every time I put on Love over gold it brought a tear to my eyes ...... :wink:

Have to say, the most noticable tweaks were filling the stands and using a peoper support stand.
