The Phantom returns...

Lightweight, sexy, 5-15 deg rise, about 115-125 length, 1" quill with some kinda noodle or pulley, ideally grey or silver.

How do bike fans...

A few updates on the weekend, so making good progress.

The stem makes it loads more comfy and looks spanking with the forks I think.
New block and chain for functional reasons more than anything and a cheeky chill pill on the back to brighten things up a bit.
I have a wants list up to help finish the job so any help gratefully received.

My hubs and bb have probably never been serviced but all run like a dream. Is it worth getting them regreased anyway? Well the BB is a sealed Mavic job so ignore that at least.

Cheers,

D.

Re:

Afternoon peeps.

I've just been moving house and have uncovered a photo of my old bike when it was new. The eagle eyes amongst you will notice there is a subtle! change in hue as well as some different parts.
I had all the cable routing changed and at the same time thought 'lets go to town' hence the new look. This was about 3 yrs into ownership I think. Never mentioned this before as I didn't think I would be able to find a pic.

The old Mavic headset is on in this pic as well as an Oddessy pro stem and some very average looking q/r's. I got all the Ringle stuff in Canada when I spent a month biking there just after getting the bike(which I took with me). Same Paris Dakar wheelset as today mind. That's dependability right there.

I'd forgotten that the Roberts' logo had changed even then.
So, which looks best - the old pink/blue or the not quite so old green/silver/turquoise/blue? I think I prefer how it is now but I do miss that pink...

Looks fantastic 8-)

OK, so I thought I'd share some new pics as I've no one else to bore with this stuff.
Changed a few bit's lately, Some Nitto action up top, silver rather than black Dia Comp's on the front, and some Jagwire for the transmission(which is bloody sensational I must say).
Next will be to cut down or swap the bars, need some titanium ones really - the carbon just don't look right, but were a quick fix. Also want to swap the brake levers for silver. I toyed with trying to match the chill pills to the frame but the green at the front is all wrong so will prob go silver for that too. It's a working bike so will never look as nifty as some of the gear on here, but I'm dead pleased with it given it's 25 yrs old now. Oh and change all the blue M6's for silver too. And the pedals. Anyway, hope you like it.

The silver post sets it off nicely 8) I'm guessing you're a fan of the SE rear brake which is why you just changed the front? If you wanted to go silver front and rear there's a chap on here with nos silver Dia Compe 987 brakes for about £25 for a full set

I've actually got the silver rears ready, but I'm kinda attached to the SE's. It's not even for performance - they match the look of the Ringle QR's. Just a shame they are black.
