I mostly agree.
I guess im guilty of not getting around the different threads more, I barely ever cotton on to various rides.
Ill keep my eyes peeled for more casual hacks.

Perhaps some way of being more assertive in approaching newbs is what I was thinking, other than letting them happen across a ride on a random thread.

KIS I stood down as deputy AEC for the South East a few months ago and we've been struggling to find a volunteer for my replacement, candidates putting themselves forward so far is NIL. You seem to have good ideas and issues with involvement why don't you take my old post and get the newbies involved? London is in the SE catchment area.

As has been said before, ask not what Retrobike can do for you... PM Green Rabbit, he'll be delighted to hear you've taken the Retrobike shilling as his deputy!

I dont even know what AEC means?

I dont really venture into many of the other threads on a daily basis but from time to time I discover a new one that captures my attention.
In my experience the best way to get me/others to pay attention is to send out a newsletter/invite by email.
If I had recieved an email saying 'we'd love to see you and loads other newbs at this great new ride...' I would have been forced to pay attention.

Just an idea.

AEC - Area Events Co-ordinator. Green Rabbit is AEC, you'd be deputy then you can communicate with people as you see fit. Basicaly you organise and attend events, rides and the like that are posted in the SE forum.

Any way, if you want to put yourself forward and put your ideas in to practise then please do so in this thread here:

Of course if there is anyone else that wants the post as well then likewise, put yourself forward. The rewards include a new banner above your avatar proclaiming you as deputy AEC and a sense of having done something for the Retrobike community and, er, well those are the two rewards.

I wonder if I am invisible sometimes I just posted up what AEC stands for and get ignored..................thank you and good night

It's OK, no need to be sensetive, we all love you. Truth be told I only read KIS's post and didn't scroll down as far as your eloquent explanation, 'tis my fault for not paying attention.

Toodle pip.

I guess I couldn't really put myself forward in this case, geography being a limiting factor, although I would enjoy being a deputy AEC.

Only kidding,Often do that myself....usually when venting my spleen

If it werent for my 9 month old son I would certainly consider it, but the spare time is pretty much soaked up already.

If no-one else ia genuinly available i'd contemplate looking into doing it on a relaxed level..
