The 'next project' syndrome

Does anyone else find that when you get towards the end of finishing a bike, you become less and less excited by it and look forward to the next project, whether you have a new starting point or not? Im all done bar the tweaking on a build thats taken me a year to finish, but Im kinda losing interest in it now and am thinking monomaniacally of the next one... odd?

yes, the feeling is the same, just finished the Cannondale and I got itching feet to do another one! I am thinking of an old Kona into single speed fun bike, I must stop and think of the wallet more!

Story of my life, the old have to have a project on the go!

Still, keeps me off the streets.

...when I finish one I'll let you know

You never "finish" it. There's always one or two bits you change on an ongoing basis...or maybe that just me.

Yep, same here, it's like an illness, my Clockwork is working great and nearly the way i want it but seriously considering transfering the bit's onto my E3, don't know when i'm ever going to get my LTS built back up and i'm waiting on a Sunn frame i dont know what the hell i'm going to do with as i don't have any bits to go on it.

When i joined this site i had one bike, now i have one bike and three "projects"

If it's any consolation i was exactly the same with Classic cars, work on one for a year or so, do all the hard work, get it just about right then sell it, buy something else and start all over again.

I know exactly what you mean. I've just finished the Shock-a-Billy and i'm almost there with the Bianchi but I now have a RC100 on my stand to start, an Attitude on its way and I am looking for another Yo eddy to do after that.....and then there is that nice Merlin thats making my wallet nervous too! Its like snooker- always planning 3-4 shots ahead.
Had a look through my Photobucket account last night...In November I had a solitary Cannondale- 8 months later and the Bianchi is build number ten (eleven if you count the Cannondale which has had two builds) this year alone and its only August :?
I need help :(
