I've had instances where I've disagreed with both flyer and chops, and don't dislike or hate either. They may, or may not hate my guts, but why difference of opinion HAS to spawn dislike for some, or when words fail, ad hominem HAS to be the modus operandi, eludes me.

Chops and flyer have probably disagreed with each other at times, too - and from the looks of this thread, neither appear to harbour each other any ill feeling either. Just seems to be others that seem to suggest, or want to believe there has to be a problem.

Well said. I don't hate or even dislike anyone on Retrobike. I have respect for anyone with enough backbone to take a stand on a topic, even if I disagree. I genuinely think Flyer is probably a very nice guy. Hell, I was mortified to read about the Never Read Any History Man having a heart attack, and we've often disagreed. If they ever needed a favour (and if I lived a bit nearer) I'd be first in the queue to help out. This ain't real life, don't get too deep into it.

Yup - some of my firmest friends from when I was growing up, we most certainly tried to beat the living shite outta each other either in a ring or a dojo - and it wasn't all Marquess of Queensberry rules I can assure you, didn't mean we weren't great friends too, and after the heat of battle, let it go.
