Really??

Never bought worktop but thought it would be more than that..

Suppose I just need a hefty piece of stuff in 6' x 2' flavour... it's currently 8' long (the width of the shed) which I think is unnecessary (although, I'm hoping to get a bench vice and grinder so perhaps that extra 2' could come in handy)
 
Yes, you can buy boggo standard worktop for about that. There is a cheap, low quality version of everything if you're a buy-to let landlord.

But if what you have now is basically OK, you could glue a bit of galvanised over the top if you want it to look neater.
