Tell me about your Commute?

Think I have the best commute ever...albeit a bit short. About 4 miles. Traffic lights consist of the barrage Penarth side where the road is raised to let boats in and out of the 'Bay'.
Cycle into work with Cardiff Bay to my left, with the City in the mid-ground and hills to the background. To my right , the Bristol Channel with views to England.
Beats Vauxhall Bridge Road everyday of the week :D
Steep hill on the way home , not good after a few tastings

most of the schools i work at are very close by so its a case of get on bike..cycle a few miles to each one each day...mess about with schoolkids on bikes for 2 hours and then bike home...intersperse this with the odd visit to starbies for tea and biccies and you have my week....i do occasionally stay in staff rooms for an hour or two before we do a lesson...aka sunbathing and shouting at children to look behind before they stick an arm out into traffic....when it gets warmer ...ice creams are involved...damn my job is hard.

My commute at Newcastle-upon-Tyne was really fab, it was predominantly all the way by the riverside from near North Shields to the Newcastle Quayside.

I really miss Newcastle

My max commute was about 2 miles each way.Bloody boring really, especially on those nice crisp mornings 8)

Then one day, i just kept going, they saw me pass but not stop  .Cycled out to Loch Lomond for the day, just jacked that job in,it was too stressful there anyhow.
:D

Mines about 12 and a half miles each way, I have no choice in mine though as once in about avery 6 weeks for a week I work from 5.30pm unitl 2am so have to ride as I dont drive yet, not nice riding 12 and a half miles in the pitch black with rubbish lights let me tell you lol

Decide what I want to ride to work, On one for hopping antics, 700c commuter for a new time record or one of the pace, for blingy casual cruise in on a sunny day.

Step out the door, turn left, nice Islington, North London road, Georgian houses, park on the left.

End of the road, turn right then left, across cross roads, on through the park.

Exit the park, turn left, council flats, occasional smashed car windows, keep riding.

T-junction head left, join the commuter cowds.

Old street, count the number of geared riders on one hand, count the number of fixie hipsters using an abacus!

Duck and dive, get to the front of the commuter pack, liverpool street station the goal.

Navigate the roads past the station, watch out for witless pedestrians.

Dog leg at the lights, down to Devonshire row, get sworn at by pedestrians who don't realise they are walking on a cycle way! Point out to pedestrians that they are walking on a cycle way, get sworn at some more. Pick up the City AM paper on the fly, wish the always cheerful chap a good day, keep my office manager happy.

Pop out behind Aldgate tube, skirting the city, skirting the east end, hanger right, Tower bridge direction, right and right again.

Arrive at work, feeling I've beaten the morning commute,I've beaten the traffic, I've been beaten by trying to beat the traffic lights, out of breath, needing a mug of tea.... Love it... My London commute!

A tad under 4 miles each way, the key is to go for personal best times.

My usual commute takes me from my front bedroom to my back bedroom where I turn on my computer.
I normally throw in a trip downstairs for some breakfast though.

I also do some evening class teaching at my local college which is a ten minute walk away.

Mind you I also work on various film projects which can take me all over the North of England. But I mostly work from home along with the constant distractions.

I often miss the three years of my five mile each way cycle commute though, followed by a shower and a bacon roll at work.
Hard to believe that was five years ago now.

13 miles each way. I try to cycle twice a week (semi urban flattish landscape), scooter twice a week and drive once a week (when I have my bike in the boot for an evening ride :D )

Virtually the same commute in reverse as NakedGav :D

My commute is about 10/11 miles each way along a canal towpath which means I runs a singlespeed 29er :D I usually do it 4 times a week but this does drop to around 2 times a week in the winter as the path does get really, really muddy etc.
