Tandem buying advice

Re:

The one thing that really needs to be top notch are the brakes.
A drag brakes is a very good idea when touring .
Our tandem has Magura hydraulic rim brakes which have served us well for the last 20 years.
They replaced Campag cantis which lacked the stopping power for a loaded machine .
25 stone between two of us+luggage takes alot of stopping power .
Check for wear on the drive system if buying second hand .

Re:

Yeah, it's got Shimano cantis, the later style with the cable that continues into one of the brakes. If I win I I'll see how the brakes are.

Re:

One thing about our tandem is its optional extra .... the ....TSB.....

Ouch .....Just got a slap round my head.

Update, I won the bid on the Dawes street 2 street. Currently treating it to a service. The drive chain needed replacing but the sync chain still has life in it.

I'm wondering how to adjust the suzue hubs on it, because when I took pulled the rear wheel off, I noticed the locknuts were loose on both sides. The front also needs adjusting as the locknut's flangy bit has cracked. I am unsure how to adjust hubs with sealed industrial style bearings, do I just do the adjustable nut up tight against the inner bearing race, then lock it in place with the locknut, or is there something more to it.
