Syncros seatpost, retro vs modern

Well the design of the syncros post other than the clamp where pretty much the same, but the clamp was different, it was still a micro adjust clamp though, just a bit crap ;)

It's quite clear from their adverts that they used this 'naff' clamp design (imho) from at least '91 up to and including '93. Then in '94 when they renamed the post, the new and now copied by many, design was introduced.

I'll attach a picture from my file just to add it to the thread, I cannot find my picture of the older design than this one (with the USE style), but I'm sure there is one on this forum somewhere.

I have an actual 1st Gen post at home, I'll take some pix and post them up later :)

I know this picture shows it a little (posted by you before, nicked out of the '92 RM catalouge.
But that is not the seatpost* it came with, nor did the '91** version come with it.

Was this early design still called a Propost ?
I am write in thinking that was the style used by USE or am I thinking of another manufacturer ?

**As my '91 had the ProPost crap clamp design.
*the '92 picture in the catalouge, has all the wrong components compared the the description

The earliest Syncros catalogue I have is 1991 and they had switched to the 'micro-adjust' design by then. The '91's were certainly called Propost.
However, the Tantalus in the 1989 RM cat was advertised with a Propost (pre micro-adjust design)
I'd love to see a 1990 Syncros catalogue. :)
I think we've discussed this before (them using old photos in later cats)
Yes the early was one USE-esq (or rather the USE post was Syncros-esq seeing as they were first to market)

hmm, maybe my Experience had this post, as it does look kind of familiar. but not sure, looks too much like the current dual half circle design. and the the top circle would pretty much gets tucked under the saddle.

but back to my question. i'm considering getting a modern Syncros post for personal use, strip the decals and put on repo's of the older decals. would you think the post quality would be the same?

I have no idea of the quality, I would expect it to be better than the seatpost of the early 90's era (ProPost), maybe as good if not better than the Hardcore.

Though I have no idea of modern stuff, or how they compare now to the Brand-X and Tioga tbone and similar looking designs.. The Tioga T-bone looks well made and is cheap.

I will say the seat post will work as well as it needs to and probably no worse than the Hardcore post
