Thank you very much Troje and Hotwheels - sadly, this is *fractionally* too short. The 1" I've already got is 161-162mm, and I just need a few more threads for the top lock-nut to latch onto!

... and after a member right here here on RB trashed my custom-made replacement steerer attempting to fit it into my crown, I think we've sadly established that I can't just get a new steerer :-(

Of course you can, it’s entirely possible…it was put in there in the first place so can be removed and replaced.
