If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all-unless you are a rude SOB who doesn't give a crap who he insults.

Crappy rip-offs of North American designs 5 or more years after the fact. Sweet.

whether serious or not, that is a poor comment.

Truth hurts.

[edit] But, I'd be happy to learn otherwise. These bikes look like gimpy copies. How are they otherwise, with timelines too, pls.

So you've said they are crappy without bothering to find out what they are sweet

"It is a blunt statement of opinion on the subject of the post."

i think that was the point, your original comment wasn't on subject. it was blunt yes, and on other forums that might well be common place but generally here it is not the norm, i'm sure you would agree with that hence why other websites like ivyleaguemtb etc were set up (just an example) so that people could comment as bluntly as they like (and expect that bluntness)

i don't think LGF should have called you names on an open forum but i think with out meaning to be playground orientated, you started it! did you think he wouldn't have something to say about it when you were blunt? or as i think, rude?

damn americans quoting winston at me!

do you see my point though? what you consider blunt, we consider rude?

Sometimes these things can be distinguished without seeing the decals. I'm not saying it IS crappy, mind you. I am not skilled enough or experienced enough to know but I've seen Bushpig identify the most obscure of bikes and make enough dynamic observations to know that he is way more educated in this area than the average forum member.

to be honest thats one of the reasons bushpig's comment irritated me, i know his rep as an educated bike guy and that's why i feel his comment was particularly wrong of him.

Perhaps I could have employed more words, but I stand by the point, which is that it isn't clear to me why this assortment of four bikes is porn. They seem pretty run of the mill. Also, the post asks us to look at the bb height, but seriously, wtf. No way you can do that at the angle the photo was taken.

I looked back at the threads unveiling each bike and there was just more of the same "I'm ok, you're ok type" comments. Problem is, that doesn't help you learn anything. I know all about the UK's deep history of road frame builders, but these bikes all seem pretty weak to me - like they were built by road builders who just didn't get it, and in their present forms, the builds are bleh too.

I don't agree that if you can't say something nice, don't say anything. Presumably people want to learn about stuff that they are interested in. I know I do.

In any case, it is nonsense that there isn't ball busting on this site, I have seen it, and I have been at the receiving end. No biggie. Bust on peoples bike if you want, but I don't see the need to call people names.
