Suntour XC comp v Avid single didgit 3

This maybe a silly newbi question but which is best brakewise, as I have both but not sure which to nail to my bike.

One thing I'd say in favour of the Suntour is they are much better built than the Avids. If set up low and wide they'll provide great stopping power with lots of modulation.

The Avids you can just chuck on and they'll lock the wheels at most speeds.

Low and wide is how cantis SHOULD be set up, just hope your main cable doesn't snap so you get the straddle wire in your tyre. Never happened to me, thankfully.

Get some cartridge pads too if you go with the cantis, will save lots of time and frustration when you need to change pads. Fibrax make 'em to take V-pads on canti studs.
