Stupid Bottom Bracket - Any suggestions?

So have you been using PlusGas or penetrating oil of any description?

No, I've not tried that yet, but I think I need to figure oput how to remove the bolt that's in there before I can do anything else.

I'll take a pic when I'm home of it's current state, but it looks a little like the pic Rob posted above, except I can't do anything with the bolt/nut.

I cant recommend penetrating oil higher for really stuck bike items. Might be an idea to start soaking it for a few weeks whilst the nuts stuck on the bike, less can dribble out and the bottom bracket should be soaked for longer in theory (in my head anyway)

Plus gas the cup and then use the method shown in the first picture. It work on a very stuck cup I had recently. Sheldon's method also failed for me. In my case the bolt distorted.

It's out! Success!

Been soaking it with Plusgas for months and brought it down to the vehicle dismantlers with me.

Tried the vice but it still wouldn't shift, so the nut was welded to the bottom bracket, hit around the outside of the BB with a copper punch then the vice still wouldn't work, but a big set of stilsons and two people's effort finally budged it!

The next step would have been heat, but I'm glad to have avoided that.

A good degreasing, then off to Triple S.
