STS

I just received an STS frame but with no plastic inserts that run inside the frame (like an outer cable) allowing me to run a rear deraileur or V Brakes. Is the frame no good?
I tried threading just the brake cable through for just over an hour with no joy so I'm not optimistic about threading the thicker insert through, if these are available.

you could try using a wire coat hanger to poke through the hole and out the other, with the cable outer attached to the other end. the hanger wont be as floppy as the cable outer so easier to control.

sounds very similar to a klein, there are many ways to thread the "sleeving" . this sleeving isnt cable outer, it is much thiner ( well it is on my rascals anyway). just thread the cable through the holes, use a thin paper clip bent in to a small hook to fish out the end of the cable, then whenyou have the cable through the frame. it is then easy toslide the "sleeving" back up the cable throuh the frame. if you want "sleeving" try your lbs, if not someone on here will have some if you put a thread in the wanted section
cheers

THANKS...

Thanks for the info .I'll get down the lbs tomorrow try to get some 'sleeving'.
The internal cable threading way sound V good so I'll persevere with that for now .Big Thanks :)

yea keep going, its much easier if the frame is stripped, as you can move it sideways and upside down etc if you need to,
other ways to thread the cable include, using a hoover over the exit hole to suck the cable out, and also use a magnet to pull the cable out. ( i have never tried these ways thou). dont be surprissed if your lbs doesnt have the "sleeving" i tried 3 shops before i managed to get some in red !! ( i wanted clear). i have seen a link to an on-line shop that sells it on here somewhere, i just cant find it as it was ages ago,
cheers

Thanks again...

Got it sorted 8) There was a length of sleeve that came with it,just needed fishing out the frame.I managed to thread the old gear cable through & thread the sleeve along that......the rest, as said, is History.
Thanks Again 8)
