Stripped Crank Thread - Not Pedal Thread 🙁

I have sadly stripped though not the whole thread on my Dura Ace drive side crank arm, not the pedal thread

I forgot to remove the washer and the crank puller kept going around and around until tiny slithers of aluminium revealed themselves to me as I cleaned it up.

I am slightly deflated...looking closely there is some of the thread intact but the "peaks" have been squashed or removed. The crank puller still screws in though.

Q. Is there anything I can do to remedy this? Is it possible to use a thread restoring file?

Then I knocked one of my bicycles over, then I sulked for a bit, then my back played up, etc.

I have had better days...

Bad day...hopefully better tomorrow.

You can always use a cheap puller to remove them.....

Ive had some joy using 2 part epoxy in the thread and them heating up an extractor and quickly screwing it in and out....

Ghetto fix, but seemed to last ok. Especially if you can get a bit of bite for the resin.

Im sure you can helicoil it also?

Just being a bit self indulgent as there are far more worse things going on...just a bit fed.

Thinking of buying a better quality crank extractor and making notes to remind myself not to forget about the sodding washer! Because I will...lol

Ride it up the road with the bolt out it will loosen in a 100 yards or so. Stop pedaling immediately.
