This is all a lot of ballache to desperately try and keep a damaged arm in service, that at the end of the day is still damaged.

Why not spend comparable money (Ā£30-40), and a whole heap less time, and just buy a replacement arm.

Hi I understand where your coming from and think the same sometimes. The problem I have is that it 1st generation Dura Ace and therefore by some people considered vintage. Unfortunately vintage comes at a price these days and I thought it would be nice to keep it as original as possible. The bicycle that is.

Had the same problem when searching the intranet. It was all about stripped pedal threads. Thanks for the detailed info...will have a deeper read later as a lot to digest and give feedback šŸ˜€

Indeed I think most of us have done it

The nicest repair is to helicoil

BUT

will cost 35-50 at a machine shop
although check first since it is a blind hole which makes things a little more complex

on replacement crank
I have just looked at secondhand prices
