Sti levers - v brake or canti?

doogie

Retro Guru
I am wanting to know model numbers of deore xt sti levers that are suitable for use with v brakes or cantis?
Which models are suitable for which? :?
Thanks,
doogie. :D

Indeed, I have a set of NOS 738 (for sale by the way) and they are for canti-use.
The 739 is the first V-brake version.

Cheers,
Martin

Thanks guys for the info, but still wondering why the canti type sti levers are not suitable with vees? :?
Surely it can only be to do with the amount of movement the lever requires to bring the brakes onto the rim?
Anyone enlighten me a little?

Levers

Some work with both! I have some LX ones that work fine with both- Servo wave style! i.e they have a slotted cam arm which pull a lot of cable to start with, then as the shoe hit the rim they slide down the slot and increase the leverage. Used em on all sorts of Vees, xtr Canti'x Lx Canti's, Dia Comp Avids, worked very well with all of 'em- neither too soft or too grabby.
