Stem with a small stack height?

stem height

I just measured my Ringle stem, and it's 32mm also. Here's a pictue of a Manitou stem, it doesn't really look any shorter than any other stem.

I didn't know you could replace the steerer on these forks. I know rc35 and rc30's have bolts so you can remove the steerer, but rc36 lack these :?:

Ahh. No you're right, the later RC36 has the pressed in steerer. You can't change them I don't think. It's got to be worth looking for a shorter stack headset though.

I've just measured a Cane Creek S2, and that is about 23mm. That's 6mm shorter than the one you have, gives you 34mm for the stem (the same as a Pace stem. )

Yep just got confirmation from justbackdated, can't change the steerer because it's pressed in and would'nt be safe to replace.

Will defo look into replacing headset and stem so if anyone notices that thier headset is looking particularly skinny then kindly let me know. Cheers for the help so far.

This project which was to build up a bike using the spares I've got knocking around has escalated into costing me a fair bit! But is'nt that just the way all cycle projects tend to go
