Stem with a small stack height?

I'm a bit stuck, please help!
Some RC36 Forks that came with my Pace have a really short steerer. I've made my Pace rigid and going to use the RC36'S on my Orange but only have 23mm (1/8 less than an inch) left when fitted through headtube and headset. If I add an extra 5mm between stem and top of steerer tube that leaves me 28mm for a stem.
Can anyone recommend a stem of approximately this stack height?
Thanks :?

Humm.... :?

Shortest stack height stem I have is the Pace one at 34mm.

Ringles are quite short too, but I don't have one to measure.

Why not talk to JBD about a new steerer tube, or try to swap with someone who has a 17" orange (85mm head tube).

don't know how much they are but Ringle Zooka's are fairly low stack height. can measure one for you this eve, but sure someone will be along before that to let you know.

I've checked a few stems I have lying around and the lowest stack height of any of them is a RaceFace Prodigy, but even that's about 38mm which is 10mm more than you have room for . Most seem to be around the 38-43mm range.

The RC36 steerers are removable though aren't they ? A longer steerer seems the only option as far as I can see.

Could you not just get a new steerer? Im sure Justbackdated could assist, and I think pace still do them.

Zooka is a little over 3cm (3.2). The lowest I know. Of course you can have something made.

Thanks for your replies chaps. :)
I didn't know you could replace the steerer on these forks. I know rc35 and rc30's have bolts so you can remove the steerer, but rc36 lack these :?:
Archangel- Would be interested to know about the Spesh ti, cheers.

What about Manitou stems they look small in height or is that an illusion?
