Steel rigid fork needs painted: DIY or Autobody Shop

I bought a rigid steel fork that seems ok for my Merlin build. I want it painted black. Should I just sand it up and spray paint it, or does that just end up being crappy and an autobody shop baked on is the only way to go?

Thx

This is a relatively simple thing so I would say

give it a go yourself first then if you don't like the result then at least you tried

Hi, you should have no real problems...I've been doing similar stuff for many years using a hair dryer in place of a bake oven :D Works just as well as the real thing,,,

Sounds like it wouldn't be too hard. No bad stories of it just not working out, looking right, being durable etc? I don't want to do it if it isn't at least moderately durable and good looking.

Thanks!

If you already have sandpaper etc it might be cost effective to do it yourself.
Otherwise find somewhere cheap to powdercoat/paint it for you.

Shouldn't cost much to try it yourself, good preparation & patience are the key to good results & you can always admit defeat & take it elsewhere if it doesn't work out.
