Just had one laying around in the cave, so thought I would fit it....first cycle computer I have owned. Only been commuting the last two weeks...5 miles in 5 miles out. One steep hill.
Average speed 13mph
Top speed 32.5mph...that short steep hill on the way to work....about 7mph climbing it (depends how much wine I have sampled...hick)
Generally bimble along at 17/18 mph
Is that average or am I a slow old fart

All I know is my max which is 38.9mph, I think my average is pretty low though maybe like 10mph or something.

Love my cycle computer.

Use my smart phone with a GPS sports tracker, far too much info. The latest bike computers now include things like gradient, temperature, as well as cadence and heart rate. All I want to know is the time and how fast I am going.

That's not too bad as the national average for cycle commuters is said to be 12mph, so it's above average!

My average speed for my commute is 15-16mph. That's a 17 mile journey on a ss mountain bike.

Mine from yesterday was....

24.30 miles
1hr 58mins
12.3mph average
33.2 mph max

All off road, and i was quite pleased with my progress :) seeing as ive put 2 stone on in the last 5 months :(

No you don't , your average is 13mph

Okay  generally bimble along at an average-not-much-faster-than-your-average-cycling-commuter 13mph.

Jeez...do you work for the NAO or something

You know what I mean...not going up or down or stopping...17/18mph :P

You can go at 17/18mph and still have an average speed of 13mph.

The average speed is calculated by dividing the distance by the time taken. Remember your maths - Speed=Distance/Time. :D
