SRAM 7spd cassette too much play on my hub?

Is this hub 8 speed only?

I presumed a 7spd cassette would be fine but there's a lot of room left when I slide the cassette on

I think the problem is Sram. I think I need a Shimano hyperglide.

iirc 7s would require a spacer for an 8s hub, can't remember what size though - if correct I'm sure someone will be able to chime in with correct size

4.5mm is the spacer needed for a 7spd cassette on 8spd freehub body.

It's an 8 speed hub and as previously mentioned, to use a 7 speed cassette requires a spacer as per @RetroDavy post.

The previous version, M563 / 4, which looks similar is a 7 speed hub
