A pre-hybrid
Thank you for sharing this Dawes catalogue, which actually confirms the year I bought my Dawes Tracker (see page 7), I thought I bought it in 1988, but that was not correct.IYou'd have thought so.
But like the purple/black fade it's looking for its market with one eye on the past.
It's described as a mountain bike in the catalogue, but I would say the market is more urban.
Bought new in 1991, but it's the 1990 model. Rrp£300 i believe
I think the Mean Street is the proper hybrid, the 700 wheeled model in the same year

For some strange reason a month ago I had two of these, as well as my Dawes Nomad which is pretty much the same bike. All the same combination of lugged Reynolds steel and all with some strange 1980s colour scheme thing going on.Fresh in from @winjohn in the Shires:View attachment 985638
1991 says the receipt.
A reminder to all of us how early European mtb style was heavily influenced by skiing and windsurfing.
Did that purple fade ever look good?
