Has anyone ever totally soaked their Blackberry?

I cycled home tonight in a gale that was beyond torrential and despite being in my bag my Blackberry got a bit damp. Not soaked as if totally immersed but just very damp. It now has what looks like water behind the screen and the buttons are non responsive. So I took the battery out and left it to dry for a while.

Now if I put the battery back in it makes a crackling sound.

Any ideas?

I've dried a wet phone out using wee sachets of silica beads.
I stuck the phone in a tied sandwich bag with the sachets and left it for a few days.

Worth a try.

I suspect the crackling you heard when you turned it on might point to something more terminal unfortunately.
Certainly no harm in trying to dry it as per suggestions though.

I dropped my Blackberry down the bog last week and then had to rinse the bog bleach off it so you could say it got a little wet.

Took the battery and sim card out and left it for a day or so. Tried it and it didn't work too well so took all the bits out again and left it alone for another couple of days. Works fine now. :D
