So who's fell off in the snow?

Haha, seems its not only me daft enough to ride and fall in the snow then

I quickly learned after sundays spills to let my tyres down to about 20psi to stop them losing grip.

Anyone thinking of snow riding do it, its great fun 8)

I'd also HIGHLY recommend flat pedals. The spds were redundant half the time. Judging by what happened to our drivetrains you may as well go singlespeed too. Great fun!!

I agree about the SPD's. Ive spent more time unclipped then clipped. I also agree fixed is the way forward. and taking it slow and steady.

I'll add myself to the list, after a relatively trouble-free period of cycling in the snow I dropped it big time this morning on some wet ice, no lasting damage done though :)

add me to list  low sided mid turn, rear end went from under me and slammed me into the dirt! at first I though the cracking sound was my collar bone! as my shoulder took the impact, but it turned out to be the ice in my camel back cracking

When the snow was brand new I never fell off once in 20 odd miles but my mate fell off loads. Yesterday's 26 miler was a different story. The snow on the tracks that had been used by farm vehicles had been compacted down to rock hard sheets of ice, same with some sections of minor road. I must've fell off 4 or 5 times, hurt my wrist, shin, both knees and got the end of my handlebar in the chest - ouch.

Here's a pic from when the snow first fell, that was a good day. :D

Went to bash out 20 miles down the canal on Sunday...only made it 400-500 yards!

Started riding and thought it was wierd that no mud/water was splashing up...realised it was ice so thought it would be interesting to see how slippery it was by dabbing the brakes. Bike washed out completely and I ended up sliding along what I can only describe as an ice rink, was probably a good inch thick of glassy ice!

Managed to get a nice bruise on my thigh courtesy of a nokia mobile phone and also cracked my Giro Zen helmet! Glad I always wear a lid as I'm sure I would have been knocked out if I hadn't!

now cant raise my arms above my head without discomfort! and turn my head without some either, still going out tomorrow first thing weather permitting  hell its the holidays its not as if I can ring in sick and stay in bed all day its my time and I'm going to use doing myself damage

Well since falling off at the beginning of this thread i've been laid up, Bruised my ribs in the fall and managed somehow to get a virus on my chest, Then caught the bloody flu, and lost my voice, The wife packed me off to the docs again yesterday as i wasn't getting any better and now have a cough that wakes the neighbours, The doc says more antibiotics and no talking for 24hrs and worst of all NO BEER still

On my very first outing too.
Hard packed snow/slush,it rained yesterday then froze solid overnight, everywhere is like a sheet of glass.
I got a foot down but it went backwards as the bike was going sideways
No harm done though :D
